Content Warnings: Winter’s Orbit

SPOILERS AHEAD

Winter’s Orbit is a story of hope, comfort, and the way healing can be long and awkward; all the more so in a society where there are reasons to hide that anything was ever wrong. Although it focuses on healing, there is significant focus on what the characters have overcome. It has a major content warning for past domestic abuse (not between the main couple), and a lesser one for medical-type equipment used in interrogation.

Detailed content warnings:

Past domestic abuse: Winter’s Orbit contains a main character who was in a past abusive relationship, has told no one, and is only just starting to heal. Although he doesn’t admit it to himself in narration, this affects his interactions with others throughout the whole book. The climax contains multiple short flashbacks to the abusive relationship, including incidences of emotional abuse, one flashback in which the two characters in the abusive relationship are implied to have had sex with dubious consent, and one with an act of physical intimidation. Although these are short and sparsely detailed, if this content warning is a significant one for you this book may be one to avoid.

Interrogation: An interrogation scene uses a hospital bed and a medical-type device to attempt to brainwash one of the protagonists, artificially triggering the flashbacks above.
